We fished in english bay again and in the afternoon it started to look very good bait everywhere some spearfish knockdowns and at 3.30 we had a nice bite on the Blackbart Abaco Prowler. The fish took a lot of line and I chaced her for 3 miles on the surface until we came close and saw her and decided to take her in. Michael fought the fish for 35 minutes until it was gaffed and secured. The final weight was 1093 pounds.

Nick came across an Oarfish, a serpent-like specimen, on his way offshore to fish for swords.  And last week, Nick sent in this photo of a Big Scale Pomfret caught aboard his boat BNM while deep-dropping during the day for swordfish in 1750-feet of water.

Pelagic Pro Team Captain Peter Miller and the boys from Team Get Lit are dominating the Sailfish Tournament scene as of late.  Here are a few excerpts from their recent tournaments:


"Kitt Toomey’s Get Lit easily defended its title in the West Palm Beach Fishing Club’s 75th Silver Sailfish Derby.
 
Get Lit finished the tournament Saturday with a three-day total of 58 sailfish releases. Jichi was second with 44, followed by Sandman with 42 and El Palacio De Los Jugos with 41.
 
The tournament set records for the most sailfish in one day — 659 on Thursday — as well as the most releases by one boat in one day — Get Lit with 36 on Thursday — and the most sailfish releases in a tournament with 1,174 by the 46-boat fleet." -- Source: SunSentinel.com


"This past weekend, we fished the Sailfish Open, part of the Sailfish Pro Series and placed 3rd in the series. We also won a 2nd place daily on day two.

This tournament ended on Friday and since we were already up in Palm Beach, we decided to fish a one day tournament on Saturday and got 2nd place overall.

Conditions were very tough and very rough. We fished against the best of the best and were fortunate to make our way up to the stage two times this weekend." -- Capt. Peter Miller, Get Lit Fishing Team
