Only thing I can say about the best fishing shorts I ever used is that I wish you would put a Zepper on them
I a charter boat Capt. And it would make pissing off the back so much easier..
But it don't stop me from buying them I do love Blackfin boat shorts
JUST GIVE ME A ZIPPER
These are among my favorite shorts for both fishing and daily use. On the whole they are excellent with little details that are much appreciated. That said, there's room for improvement.
As mentioned above, these need a more open fly or one extended in length with a second Velcro fastener like on the 4-TEK BOARDSHORT for better "access".
Like most Pelagic shirts, these have a front closure tieable laces/drawstring that's sewn in the center to, I assume, prevent loss. Cool BUT, the lace always gets hung on the Velcro between uses causing wear and free. The string needs a rubberized coating like the one on the 4-TEK BOARDSHORT or, better yet, a material incompatible with Velcro.
The plier pocket could be wider.
But, more than anything else, NEEDS at least one REAR POCKET.
With some minor tweaks these could be the end-all, be-all shorts. Then they should take the design and offer a heavy duty version with either a thicker denier nylon or more tightly woven tactical one that's more resistant to tears, punctures, and absorbency.Response from Pelagic
Thank you so much for your feedback, which will be passed along to our design/production team.
These shorts are by far the best I have ever owned! They last for years! Expect at least 2 years out of a pair and that's with heavy usage! They dry super quick and resist stains and scuffs amazingly. The loop on the right side waistband for attaching your plyer layneryed is a great feature as well as the pocket for them! One thing to watch out for is very hot dryers, as it can damage the material. Highly recommended from someone with 30 years of fishing in South Florida area.
I think the fly should be more like the soroccos. The velcro and lace closure is too much when you are rocking around at sea. At least a zipper, cause the lace lets you get the perfect fit. Great products though, all I wear is Pelagic.
I have had a few pairs of these for a couple of years and they really last. I agree that they could use a fly that's easier to gain access but that would probably end up being a problem with wear. I love these shorts and will buy them as long as they make them, rugged good looking and built to last.
