I am a big fan of the Blackfin Classic Boatshorts (though they need at least one rear pocket and a better fly to reach perfection) and have several duplicate pairs of them. When I saw the release of this shade of blue (more of an Aegean/Sapphire/Dark Steel Blue), I hopped on them immediately.
It's probably important to note that the Blackfin STRETCH have a different texture/finish from the Blackfin Classic. The Classics have a much tighter weave in nylon material that makes them "slicker"...more like a windbreaker or gym bag. Personally, I like that material; it better repels liquids and slightly less prone to getting snagged by a hook or pointed object. These STRETCH pants are more like thick spandex or non-perforated gym shorts. I'm still pleased with the quality and construction. They are very comfortable and cool. I get the feeling these wont fray as much as the Classics over time.
FOR PELAGIC - Please add a rear pocket!! Also, please redesign the fly so one has better access to his gear...dropping one's pants or hiking up a pant leg are not the most convenient means of relieving one's self.
Obviously "fashion" is not much of a consideration when it comes to fishing and sporting recreation. Regardless, the "rougher" and "duller" fabric texture of the Stretch does pair very nicely with the similarly textured polyester/nylon material common to most SPF Performance shirts (of any brand). If, for some bizarre reason, you're in the fashion over function camp, the stretch shorts match/coordinate very well with performance shirt materials, while the Classics contrast (quite nicely).
