Bud N’ Mary’s Fishing Marina is located an hour and a half south of Miami, on the southern tip of beautiful Islamorada in the Florida Keys. Established in 1944 and home to more than 40 legendary fishing captains and guides, it’s the oldest and largest fishing fleet in the Florida Keys Fishing industry.
Islamorada is known as the Sportfishing Capital of the World, and rightfully so. More world record fish have been caught from these waters than any other location on earth. What facilitates Islamorada’s reputation is that the Atlantic Ocean, Florida Bay, and the Gulf of Mexico all surround this island in the central Keys. Fishing in the Keys is an angler’s dream come true!
The Stanczyk family has owned and operated Bud N Mary’s Sportfishing Marina since 1978. Richard is the father of Rick and Nick who are active charter Captains at the marina and have been featured in countless publications, T.V shows, and documentaries. Scott is Richard’s brother and uncle to Rick and Nick.
Credited with pioneering daytime swordfishing in the United States with his father Richard and uncle Scott Stanczyk, Nick Stanczyk has been featured in more magazines than we have space to mention. Nick was also featured as one of the main characters on the Weather Channel’s “Reel Rivals” television show in 2012. A trip on the BROAD MINDED is a coveted spot for anyone interested in learning the nuances of daytime swordfishing. Clients have travelled from Australia, Portugal, throughout the United States, and the Caribbean to learn how to catch Broadbill Swordfish down deep.
Bud N’ Mary’s boasts 24 backcountry guides and 15 offshore charter boats that do this full time, all year long. These captains have lived and worked together for many years, so they all try to work together and help each other out which is beneficial for everybody involved. They share fishing information and compare notes, kind of like a fishing network, which gives all of them an extra edge the next day. Many of their guides are 2nd and 3rd generation fishermen.
Fishing in Islamorada is something anglers from all over the world dream about! Almost any fish that swims in the Atlantic ocean can be caught here. Anglers enjoy easy access to the Atlantic ocean, the reef, Florida Bay, Everglades National Park, and the Gulf of Mexico. All of these fisheries converge in a unique ecosystem unlike any other.
