Luke Heflin, 12 years old, was born in Southern California and spent his first couple years being raised in a small village in Laguna Beach. His passion for the ocean started at an early age when he began surfing, fishing, and diving with his father by the age of four. He moved to Kailua Kona [Hawaii] at the age of seven, where his passion and skills have continued to develop.
Luke is one of the top rated young surfers in the state of Hawaii (last year being rated #2 on Hawaii Island). He has several contests wins on his home turf, the Big Island, and travels frequently to outer islands to compete at a state championship level. Luke competes in the Hawaii Qualifying Series, the Hawaii NSSA and HASA. He is continuing to pursue his passion of professional surfing.
Luke has been mentored by many great surfers, divers and fisherman. Marlin and Randy Parker, Charlie Uhl, Teddy Hoogs, Shane Dorian, Torrey Meister and his dad Gabe Heflin are just to name a few. It will be exciting to watch this exceptional young man transform into a world class waterman!
