Stuart grew up spearfishing and fishing in South Africa. In his early school days, spearing King mackerel and Yellowfin tuna, as well as catching lobsters was his way of making money during school. From chasing large Bull sharks and Rays off the beaches of South Africa, Stuart finally moved on to Marlin fishing with friends over the weekends.
After seeing his first billfish, Stuart was sold and became a captain of his first sport fishing vessel in his early 20’s. For the past 13 years, Stuart has been a charter captain bouncing between Kenya, South Africa, and now Cape Verde.
Stuart has accomplished over 300 billfish releases in a season during five of his thirteen years as a captain while fishing out of East Africa. He also has many unclaimed catches that could go for IGFA records. Stuart has put together four "Super Grand Slams" while fishing out of Watamu, including one of the slams nearly being a double - 4 Striped Marlin, 2 Blue Marlin, 1 Broadbill and 13 Sailfish.
In March 2014, Stuart was fortunate enough to have caught the second 1000lb Pacific Blue marlin out of Kenya weighing in at 1062lb’s, which was also the first "grander" for 2014.
Stuart spends a lot of his spare time with Ryan Williamson, son of late John Williamson from Williamson lures, in his factory (now called Pulsator Lures) designing lure’s and teasers which is a huge passion in his life.
